SUNDAY POLO!!!

EASTWOODS PARK ON SUNDAY

Polo will go on as usual this Sunday, except I won't be there to start it, because I want to go visit my Fam before those of us traveling leave for our mighty Eastern Polo Tour!!! So you goons and goblins will have to start polo on your own.

For those going to COMO, this will be the last weekend to really practice before we leave, sure sure you can practice on Tuesday and Thursday, if you come out! Get ready COMO GOERS it's coming soon!!!

So whoever wants to take the reigns this Sunday and get polo rolling, feel free to do so, and let others know, so they don't feel obligated to come get the stuff... all you gotta do is get the cones and a ball, most everyone now has their own mallet!

ALSO, Mo and I have been busy printing up some new shirts, we went with the Hanes shirts we had originally so no more complaints about the shirts being too small or whatnot, they are normal sizes now, and thicker, which is good for this weather we've been having. Lot's of bright colors, so bug MO on Sunday for some!!!! They look awesome!

Wednesday Night

Well since no-one, but Charlie and Matt, showed up for Tuesday Midnight Guerrilla polo, we thought we'd try and meet again tonight and hope that some more of you all would show up. So if you want, come out at Midnight and meet at the Capitol for WEDNESDAY MIDNIGHT GUERRILLA BIKE POLO.

Midwest Champeenships Nov 7-8

Hey all! Everyone planning on participating in this tournament needs to please visit the thread on bikepolo.ca for all info, rules, housing contacts, etc. We need to register our teams, get informed of the rules (helmets required!), and ya'll need to take care of housing. I have mentioned that about 9-10 of us from ATX will need a floor to crash on, but i doubt any one house can host all of us. Also, they have requested we provide our own sleeping bags (they don't have blankets a plenty to pass around). Read up on their court size and set up, GET THE APPROPRIATE GEAR RATIOS!!!!, and lets get ready for a fun weekend! There is going to be some really great play happening here and we have some dudes who are planning on doing well and going far in the tournament from Austin, but know that there are plenty of people who are just there to have FUN (myself included).

Fun times

That was so much fun at polo today, I had a blast. The games are getting to be really good and we are all starting to play so well, offensively and defensively. I think we should start talking about putting a time limit on the games when a lot of people come out, that way we can have more. There was some talk today about it, but let's let everyone swish it around in their brains for a while before we start making new regulations on pick up. We might also start thinking about playing to 3. Just throwing these out there for you all to think about. If you got any input, the comments section is a good spot for that!

Leah came back out to film some more and from the looks of it, she probably got a lot of really good footage, hopefully they make us all look like badasses... ha! I was told the video from all that will be ready in the next few weeks, and Jacob will hopefully send us the link and we can post it up here! I can't wait to see it and I know you can't either.

Don't forget about Guerrilla polo on Tuesday night at midnight, meet at the Capitol for some fun times, yeah!

Bike polo infomormational

If you came out on Sunday, you may have noticed a guy standing around taking pictures, talking to some of us, and generally seeming interested in our little sport... Well that guy is Jacob, and he is shooting a creative and informational video for the Dell Lounge about bike polo in general, and guess what, we get to be in it.


If you want a sample of what he's been doing, check out this video, I downloaded and then uploaded, so I hope that's ok... thanks Jacob!

He is coming back out Thursday, weather permitting, and will be doing some actual filming, so it would be a good idea to come out. From what he has told me, there won't be any interviews or only a few, and the focus will be on bike polo's rules, dyi aspect, bikes, and equipment... so there won't be a focus on any individual player. So no need to bust out the makeup kits or make any hair appointments... ha!

I would also like to say that this is not for beginners or people with little experience playing... Jacob is doing something that will be broadcast on the web, and needs it to be legit. This will be seen by everyone who plays bike polo across the globe, most likely, so we need to do our best to make sure it IS legit.

Oh and don't forget about the race Annie is helping put on! We will most likely take a ride down to Birds before the race starts, so if you plan on coming to polo late, you may not find anyone there... but I can leave the stuff if anyone wants to play instead... but you may be scorned!

Polo Around The World

I heard Thursday was a success, ABC news on campus got some good footage and the social ride got some beer, jousting, and foot down! Wish I could've been there. If you didn't know, we (mo) bought the keg of beer and made quite a bit of money from donations... so that money will go to paying the entry fee to either the Como Tourney and/or the NOLA tourney for anyone who can make it to them... assuming we have enough to do so! Go Social Club!

Now for a look at Polo around the world!


This is an image of the clubs map on bikepolo.ca, the wonderful forum for everything hardcourt bike polo related! If you don't get on there from time to time, you should, we're shaping the way bike polo is played around the world! Just some info from the listing... there are 85 clubs in the U.S., 36 in Europe ( I think I counted those right), 8 in Australia and New Zealand, 4 in Asia, and 2 in South America!!!

Take a look at the London Polo site, they have an actual league where they play everyone and rank each team based on the wins they get from a best of 3 game match! Progression, yes, I do think so!

Thursday Polo

On Thursday this week, Loren, from ABC news on campus is coming back out to polo to shoot some footage of everyone playing and generally being awesome. She came out on Sunday, but it started raining and she had to leave, so she is making up for it Thursday! So come out and come out early, not everyone is on bike time...

Also, Keith is bringing the social ride out to polo. Which means a ton of more people getting in on some polo action. There might even be some other goodies showing up as well!!! (i.e. beer, jousting)

So all in all this Thursday is going to ROCK out big! I wish I could make it all but I will have to work, so you guys better represent good!
