a damn hot Sunday....

If you're really serious, you bring your own lunch and a gallon of water... no time to go to the store to get some stuff... Miguel knows what I'm talkin' about!

Israel must not be as serious as Miguel, but he's a badass so what does he care!

Thanks for sweeping!

B-L-OO-D! Blood blood that's for me...

Don't be rude to the camera

Bromance?

Since I can't play much, I will be taking lots of crappy pictures like these... hope you enjoy them!

Who's your daddy...?

Mallet head material has arrived.

METZ PARK

So, our buddy Keith scouted out a good spot for our Tourny, which is getting closer. Metz park is located on Pedernales and Canterbury sts. on the Eastside. Go have a look if you're in the area... I did. This is what I saw:

Comment and let me know what you think. Keith pointed out there are no Light poles for me to run into... but there are a bunch of other poles... and a tree... could be fun. We would have to build some boards to go around the edges for the tourny but that wouldn't be too difficult... I hope.

UFL at Eastwoods

Looks like we are having some company this Sunday at Polo. I just saw this over on Jason's site, it appears the Austin chapter of the Unicycle Football League is having it's first pickup / practice at Eastwoods this weekend, same time we are playing polo, should be interesting...

anyone thinking what Im thinking.... unicycle polo

Post surgery

I finally got around to taking pictures of my shoulder after they did surgery to insert a metal plate that would hold my bone together. I'll post x-rays later!

Hopefully I'll be able to play polo again in about a month and a half! ftw!

This is Robert post surgery.

Also now that the two worst players in Austin are out of your hair and no longer in the way we will expect a massive increase in the level of play. Go out there and show some skeelzz!

Polo Today @ 5:30

Bring a bike, we still have the mallets and balls

New Shit!

Hey all you guys/gals, I just saw this on bikepolo.ca, that Gus from LegitBikePolo is leaving the country for a semester and needs to get rid of all his merchandise he got to sell for his bike polo specific company. I've already sent off for 12' of the yellow gas pipe, so if any of you need materials to make mallet heads, come find me and I'll hook you up.

If you want to be adventurous and get some materials yourself, he has all the stuff needed for just about any polo project, except of course bike parts, he may still have wheel covers, balls, mallet materials, he might even customize some shit for you, click the image to read what he's got.

Peace.

Look out for pot holes!

So I was on my way to work Thursday afternoon. I was making my way down 6th St. headed west. As soon as I crossed over Congress I hit a huge pot hole/water main in the street. I tried to catch myself but it was too late, my hands had already slipped forward over my handle bars and I was going down. I landed on my shoulder and my head and this apparently snapped my collar bone in half on my left side. There were a bunch of people around and luckily a very nice lady helped me out of the street and phoned 911. Here are a couple of crappy pictures I took sitting in the hospital waiting for my surgery:

I had surgery the next day. The doctor connected my collar bone back together with a metal plate and a couple of bone screws. It will be around a month at least before I can really ride my bike again, and who knows how long before I can safely participate in a polo match. I'm really bummed about not getting to go to Atlanta. Hopefully I'll make it to Denver next month.

Have a good day, and look out for pot holes!

Bummer

Our trip to Atlanta was canceled, unfortunately Jordan hit a pot hole and broke his collar bone hours before we were to leave. We're all bummed out, but at least his head isn't broken, ha. Get well soon Jordan. Good luck to our buddies from NOLA, P-COLA, and BATON ROUGE.

So with that said, POLO WILL GO ON AS REGULARLY SCHEDULED ON SUNDAY!!!

Polo @ 2:00 p.m.
Eastwoods Park

and you guys better come ready to play, I'm in the mood to play hard, so if I run you down chasing a ball, ha, fuck it, get used to that shit, or get faster! BRING IT!

ATL this weekend!!!

Just in case you forgot about this tourny, Jordan, Dan, and Myself are taking the trip to represent ATX in ATL. It's going to be a long 15 hour drive, but in the end it should be worth it all. Some of our pals from NOLA, Baton Rouge, and P-cola will be there, so we will at least know some of the faces.

Polo this Sunday may be like last Sunday, unless you guys take it upon yourselves to do it, don't be lazy! It might be a good time to scout some mallet materials, or just have a social club outing.

All I know is I'm stoked!

LFT

Louisiana - Florida - Texas

Israel, Jordan and I went over to New Orleans this weekend for some friendly polo matches with our closest polo neighbors. A group came over from Pensacola, as well as, a team from Baton Rouge, so there were 4 different cities representing and 3 different states. It was a lot of fun. We stayed with our buddy Jeff from NOLA, who played on the Pensacola team, and will be with them for the ATL tourny this weekend.

Of course we rode around a bit through town to get some food, see some of the area, and relax before polo started.

Their court is awesome, it's under an I-10 overpass in a parking lot with curbs all the way around, except for a few spots for cars to drive through. There were some homeless spectators. The court is a lot larger than ours, which I liked a lot, the long breaks and longer ball possession time was enjoyable. Long passes are always fun.

The guys brought out a keg for all of us... it is New Orleans. That's how you do it! Thanks for that NOLA, you guys rock.

This is the group that showed up to play... most of them did play, and all were really cool and fun to hang out with. Oh did I mention how much I enjoyed the shade!!! That is literally one of the coolest parts about their spot.

The Pensacola Team, AB, Ryan, and Jeff.

Thanks NOLA for hosting us, thanks Jeff for letting us crash at your tiny ass place and hanging out with us, and thanks to Pensacola and Baton Rouge for coming out and playing with us. We all had a blast and I can't wait to meet up again.

Here are some more pictures

+

The Bicycle Film Festival will be here August 5-9, which is a Wednesday - Sunday!! That's 3 more days than last year... I didn't go last year, but this year I will try for sure.

There is a lot going on in those 5 days, and with all that, we are excited to announce that we are going to host a bike polo tournament with the help of the BFF!!! It's official, expect to hear a lot more about this in the next coming weeks. Some of us met with Jeanette from the BFF crew and she has a lot of good things going already and we had some ideas of our own to make it a really awesome event. We want as many teams from Austin as we can get and hopefully we can attract some players and teams from other cities to join us.

I'm really excited about this and I know some of the other ATXBPSC are as well! If you want to be a part of it, let me know and start thinking of who you want to play with in the tourny, so you can start practicing together as a team, if you want!

Also as a side note: if you want a mallet of your own to practice with on the days we don't play, let one of us know and we will try to find some mallet material to help you out, or find some yourself and we can show you how we made our mallets or you can go here or here and find out yourself, I'm all about self-sufficiency... also Jimmi said he might be able to help get some ski poles soon, talk to him!

Sunday

WHERE DID ALL THE NEWBIES COME FROM??

We had a ton of new faces out there yesterday... tons... I showed up a little after 2, which was the new starting time for polo, and John Rensho was there, then Wes showed up, and we sat for a long time before anyone else showed up... more and more people came, but all of them came with really nice bikes and they came to just watch... JUST WATCH! Who wants to do that? All in all it was a fun night, Jasmine had brought out some more snacks, I had brought some watermelon, several people brought some beer, Jimmi scored on his birthday, lots of polo was played, and some new talent was seen! Man, I love Sundays! Here are some pics.

Max and Dan Cakes with very big smiles!

And then of course, if you ever wondered to yourself, "Can a tall bike hold 2 people safely and comfortably, while in motion?"
Well the answer is probably not, but it can hold 2 people in motion!
