METZ PARK

So, our buddy Keith scouted out a good spot for our Tourny, which is getting closer. Metz park is located on Pedernales and Canterbury sts. on the Eastside. Go have a look if you're in the area... I did. This is what I saw:

Comment and let me know what you think. Keith pointed out there are no Light poles for me to run into... but there are a bunch of other poles... and a tree... could be fun. We would have to build some boards to go around the edges for the tourny but that wouldn't be too difficult... I hope.

  1. Oh cool I know what spot this is. The shade will be a nice change but we might be pissing off some B ballers, there are usually people playing whenever I pass by.

  2. Yeah, I was thinking about dropping by on the way to polo this sunday to check on the usage of this place on Sundays. Took the thursday night ride there and it was empty, but that was at 8:30pm.

Close to a beer store too. And I think there is a water fountain there.

I'll check into the specifics about booking this location for the Tourney so there is no question.

See ya'll Sunday. 1 more week on my cruiser, then the polo bike will be complete as well as two new mallets.

    Fuckin' stoked.

  3. This place looks legit. Now, like Daniel said, we need to figure out how busy it is, and build some walls to put around it. A bunch of cinder blocks would be nice...

  4. The shade will definitely be welcome. Also, we can play in the rain.

There are a few other courts around the eastside that are built just like this. I bet we can find one open to play on Sundays.

  5. I'll send Jeanette, from the BFF crew, an email and see if she can use her pull to get this court booked for us. She may already be in talks with the city...

  6. Have a friend who is the videographer for statesman.com. Told him about the tournament last week. He's pitching the piece to his editors and should know soon.

  7. Hey Guys,

Check out the chain and spocket medal in this post: http://londonbikepolo.wordpress.com/2009/03/31/london-tapping-out/

Be pretty cool to have these in bronze, silver, gold for the tourney. I have a friend here in town with an etching company who could put our tourney and club name as well as a date on each of them.

Have a lovely Austin lady hang them around the necks of the winners?

    Just a thought.

I spend way too much time bike polo surfing on the net.

  8. Keith that is a really cool idea... if we could get some big cogs or some small chainrings, that seems ideal...
